Summer salad
For cultivation in midsummer you should not use the same types of lettuce as in spring, for example. In contrast to their early predecessors, summer varieties cannot tolerate frost and are therefore always sown or planted after the Ice Saints (i.e. from mid-May to the end of June). On the other hand, they are very heat tolerant and prone to heat, even at high temperatures
therefore less to shoot. These salads are ready to harvest between July and September.
Varieties included
The Grazer Krauthäuptel is a Batavia lettuce variety and forms beautiful green heads with red leaf edges. This excellent specialty has its origins, as the name suggests, in Austrian Styria. This variety is also very resistant to fungal attack.
The Barcelona iceberg lettuce is a highly recommended, proven and high-yielding top variety. The large, fresh green and compact heads are of the best quality and are also resistant to salad aphids.
Tantan is a crunchy romaine lettuce that grows to a height of approx. 18 cm and has very tasty lettuce hearts. This variety is particularly characterized by the fact that it remains bolt-resistant even in mid-summer. Already tried? This variety tastes great in our chili con carne wraps, for example.
